Meet the Team

Tomas Karbowiak

Managing Director

As the founder of the TWK Group, Tomas’s key role is in the day-to-day management, running and forward motion of the business, with strategic and operational oversight of all its activities.

When he’s not working on new and improved ways where the company can serve our customers, he can be found taking the lead in a variety of activities. These range from being a first-rate business and brand ambassador to problem solving.

Tomas has worked in the building sector for many years and has spent several of those running multiple construction businesses. The TWK Group is a natural progression from all that experience and expertise.

Tomas enjoys travelling, equally loves his adopted home here in Dorset. A man of simple pleasures, just ply him with quality Chinese food and gin and he’s happy.

When work allows, he’s either avidly supporting Bournemouth Rugby Football Club, boxing to stay in tip-top condition, cooking up a storm in the kitchen or socialising with friends.

Brett Burgis

Contracts Manager

As a scaffolding professional of over 30 years standing, Brett has successfully won and implemented a number of multi-million pound contracts.

Today he’s focussed on building close and mutually beneficial partnerships with customers, preparing and winning tenders and growing the business.

His extensive management capabilities range from working closely with customers from the start to the finish of a project to ensure all the programme’s deliverables are met to time, budget and quality to managing the company’s teams at the rock face.

Brett is SSSTS (Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme) Advanced Scaffolder and SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualified.

His passions involve two-wheeled transport and Plymouth sloe gin - although not at the same time, obviously. So when Brett’s not riding his Super Sports motorcycle he can be found riding his mountain bike off road instead.

Tony Lucas

Site Supervisor

As a scaffolding professional with 35 years of experience and expertise to call upon, Tony works closely with Contracts Manager, Brett, our customers and our on-site teams.

He’s an SSSTS (Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme) Advanced Scaffolder, so there can be few scaffolding problems Tony’s not already solved.

When he’s not working closely with the company’s clients and his team of scaffolders, you can find Tony cruising around on his Lambreta scooter or as part of the VW Club or pitching his tent for a camping holiday.

Caroline Hearne

Relationship Manager

Caroline’s main role is to create and manage the customer-focussed tender opportunities that are the lifeblood of the business, while deploying the technology that helps generate and effectively respond to enquiries.

She thrives in the face-to-face customer arena, managing those key relationships and helping to develop the business pipeline. This is second nature to Caroline, who’s a seasoned networker having run her own networking events for many years.

She also manages the group’s many marketing initiatives - including social media, PR, partnership and sponsorship campaigns as well as networking events – all the while keeping an experienced eye on contractual, financial, technical and operational risks.

Having spent over two decades working in sales and marketing, Caroline’s won awards, undertaken many sales management and leadership courses and has earned an Institute of Sales & Marketing Management Diploma.

In her spare time, Caroline likes nothing better than to rock up to a music festival in her VDub van, Ruby. That’s when she’s not at the gym, a Zumba class or socialising with friends – a glass of red wine in hand.

Nick Kaliszewski

Business Development Executive

Nick’s primary role is to help the company grow through customer acquisition and ensuring that the very most is made of any leads and quotations already in play.

A typical day will find him contacting prospects for new business, chasing quotations, making appointments for our relationship and contracts managers (Caroline and Brett) to visit customers while ensuring the CRM system is all up to date.

Nick has enjoyed a diverse 30 years of work experience, which has included five years as a Royal Marine Commando and vast experience in sales management.

Nick admits to being a bit of a gym junkie, powerlifter and protein fan. But he’s equally as passionate about spending time with his family, military history and cars. The latter is why he’s also known as a bit of a petrol head.

Amy Meech

Operations Manager

Amy works closely, alongside and in support of Tomas, helping to organise and run the day-to-day activities of the business.

Hers is a multifaceted role covering a wide range of internal and external operations and departments, from general office and sales to HR and financial.

Amy has spent over eight years in the construction sector, gaining valuable experience working with a local roofing and scaffolding company.

She holds the much respected Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) professional qualification and is currently studying for a Chartered Management & Leadership degree at Portsmouth University.

When she gets the chance, there’s nothing Amy likes to do more than spend time with family and friends – which might well involve walking her Sausage dog, a beach holiday and enjoying Italian food.

Rachael Archer

Office Manager

Rachael works to support the company’s departmental heads while fulfilling her own administrative and office management role. This ranges from preparing pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and payment applications to site costings, tender enquiries and the administration of the company’s Health & Safety policies.

As this is Rachael's first step on the career ladder, she’s learning and training in the most effective and efficient way possible – on the job.

Though now living many miles form her Liverpool home, she’s not forgotten her Scouse roots and is a keen supporter of Everton Football Club.

When she’s not watching and cheering on the Toffeemen, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends or working out at a boot camp or the gym.

Klaudia Karbowiak

Accounts Administrator

As Accounts Administrator, helping to keep the company’s finances in good shape is only one of Klaudia’s responsibilities.

So although you’ll often find her concentrating on invoice data entry, payroll and pensions or directing payments to the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) through the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), she has other responsibilities, too. These include keeping the company’s vehicles on the road, auditing the scaffolding team’s tool requirements and answering customer service enquires.

Klaudia has previous financial experience gained in local government in her native Poland and to enhance her professional capabilities she is also studying the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2 qualification.

In her spare time, Klaudia loves to travel, eat healthily (except for her passion for Itallan wine and cheese!) and make the most of the beautiful Dorset coastline through activities such as paddle boarding.
